We identified that CAPE (1) inhibits migration and invasion of SCC-9 oral cancer cells at noncytotoxic concentrations, (2) downregulates MMP-2 protein expression and inhibits its enzymatic activity, (3) increases TIMP-2 expression, (4) inhibits FAK phosphorylation, (5) and inhibits p38 MAPK and JNK activation. This evidence concerns the gene PTK2 and lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
