Regulation of angiogenesis is often mediated by controlling the expression of TSP‐1, which is one of the most potent endogenous inhibitors of angiogenesis.6–8 TSP‐1 production is regulated by miRNA in tumors.9–11 TSP‐1 has been implicated in the development of diabetic complications,12–13 which makes it a potential therapeutic candidate for the treatment of diabetes‐induced vascular pathologies. This evidence concerns the gene THBS1 and diabetes mellitus.
