That situation may have a tendency for some patient groups; Gourley et al. analysed Scottish women with BRCA1/2 mutations who are suffering from ovarian cancer without a history of previous breast cancer and showed that they had a frequency for visceral metastasis than matched control nonhereditary ovarian cancer patients who are negative for family or personal history of BRCA1/2. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast cancer.
