IFNG and infection: An example of the role of long non-coding RNA in immunological function is that of TMEVPG1 (Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus persistence candidate gene 1) which has been shown to be expressed post-infection in the CD4 and CD8+ T-cells and downregulated following immune cell activation (Vigneau et al., 2003) possibly through the regulation of IFN gamma.
