FMO5 and hypertensive disorder: Ang II has also been shown to increase 3-nitrotyrosine immunoreactivity (a marker for ONOO− formation), in a Nox2 NADPH oxidase-dependent manner in cerebral vessels (Girouard et al., 2007), suggesting that Ang II-dependent hypertension causes oxidative stress and vascular dysfunction within components of the neurovascular unit.
