Although the incidence rate of death from cardiovascular disease was higher in the insulin users (32.8 per 10,000 patients per year) than in the non-insulin users (14.0 per 10,000 patients per year), no significant difference between the two cohorts was found for the risk of death from cardiovascular disease (fully adjusted RR = 1.83, 95% CI 0.91–3.68, P = 0.001). The gene discussed is INS; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
