We hypothesized that in breast cancer, β-catenin over-expression during tumorigenesis is driven by components of Wnt family members, such as WNT10B or another Wnt-ligand (Klemm et al, 2011) rather than by mutations of members of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway as is the case for sporadic colon cancer (Klaus & Birchmeier, 2008). The gene discussed is WNT10B; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
