Considering that the protective effects of PPARs agonists depend on the expression levels of PPARs, our results showed that the peak time for PPARα, β, and γ expression was 24 h, 48 h, and 24 h, respectively, suggesting that administration of agonists against those molecules before those peak times after ischemia and reperfusion may be effective against ischemic brain injury. This evidence concerns the gene PPARA and ischemia.
