Immune/stress response genes with greater expression in resistant snail haemocytes included peptidoglycan recognition protein 1, FREPs 1 and 2, gram-negative binding protein, allograft inflammatory factor 1, heat shock protein (HSP) 40, ferritin, and glutathione-s-transferases (GSTs), all of which were differentially expressed irrespective of exposure, while FREPs 3 and 12, HSPs 70 and 90 showed greater expression post infection (File S2). The gene discussed is PGLYRP1; the disease is infection.
