Consumption of the HF diet increased insulin-stained areas (Figure 3A and 3B), islet hypertrophy and intra-islet fibrosis (Figure 3A and 3C), intra-lobular fibrosis (Figure 3A and 3D), pancreatic hydroxyproline content (Figure 3E) and the number of α-SMA-positive cells (Figure 3A and 3F) compared to the standard chow diet. This evidence concerns the gene ACTA1 and hydrops fetalis.
