Increasing evidence has demonstrated that CF is expressed in activated microglia in demyelinated WMLs mouse models, such as cuprizone-demyelination models, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG)-induced experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) demyelination models and the hemizygous proteolipid protein 1 (Plp1) transgenic mouse; notably, CF expression is completely absent in the normal brain [7]. This evidence concerns the gene CFTR and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
