Our data indicate that human macrophages incubated with purified flagella from C. sakazakii (ST1 and ST4), C. malonaticus, C. muytjensii, C. turicensis, and C. dublinensis contribute to the activation of significant levels of IL-8 and TNF-α in response to infection, while low levels of IL-10 were observed. Here, CXCL8 is linked to infection.
