Finally, we analyzed the five candidate genes in a panel of four human lung cancer cell lines, two of which expressed wild type p53 (A549 and NCI-H460) and two of which were compromised for p53 function (NCI-H1299, which lacks p53, and NCI-H522, which expresses a p53 mutant) (see Figure S1). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is lung carcinoma.
