MRP4 protein was more abundant in pancreatic cancers when compared to adjacent non-cancerous pancreatic tissue and knockdown of MRP4 using shRNA in two pancreatic cancer cell lines, Panc1 and BxPC-3, inhibited cell growth and clonogenicity through cell cycle arrest (Zhang et al., 2011). The gene discussed is ABCC4; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
