Polysaccharide of P. sajor-caju which is rich in β-glucans (GE) (240mg/kg of body weight) prevented the occurrence of glucose intolerance, hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia/insulin resistance in C57BL/6J mice fed a high-fat diet by up-regulating the expression of GLUT-4 and adiponectin genes and down-regulating the expression of NF-κB. The gene discussed is SLC2A4; the disease is Glucose intolerance.
