CCL2 and Hepatic fibrosis: Several independent studies highlighted the importance of the chemokine receptor CCR2 and its cognate ligand monocyte-chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1/CCL2) for monocyte recruitment during experimental hepatic fibrosis [3-6], suggesting that inhibition of CCR2 or MCP-1 might bear therapeutic potential in hepatic fibrosis.
