Therefore, the results showing that inhibition of LSD1 in the presence of TMCG and DIPY reduced both RASSF1A mRNA expression and apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells indicate that unmethylated E2F1 is required not only for the binding of E2F1 to the RASSF1A promoter but also for TMCG/DIPY-induced apoptosis in these breast cancer cells.
