The administration of Hachimi-jio-gan to subtotal nephrectomized rats exerted a favorable influence on the prevention of renal failure progression, at least in part, through amelioration of the JNK pathway and apoptosis-induced renal damage, whereas Bakumi-jio-gan exerted a protective effect against the amelioration of renal oxidative stress- and inflammation-related protein. This evidence concerns the gene MAPK8 and kidney failure.
