In influenza infection, a substantial number of antigen-specific DbNP366+CD8+ and DbPA224+CD8+ T cells express IL-7Rα at the peak of the acute primary response (70.2 ± 1.5 and 37.5 ± 2.4%, respectively), which does not translate into the relative numbers of T cells in the stable memory pools (Croom et al., 2011).
