While DC is the most severe clinical manifestation of telomerase dysfunction, rare germline mutations in the telomerase genes (TERT and TERC) have also been found in patients with isolated aplastic anemia [8], myelodysplastic syndrome [9], acute myeloid leukemia [10], pulmonary fibrosis [11], [12] and liver cirrhosis [13], [14]. The gene discussed is TERT; the disease is pulmonary fibrosis.
