Recent works have reported that miR-101 downregulation is involved in COX-2 overexpression in human colon cancer cells (CRC) [24], miRNA-26b regulates the expression of COX-2 in desferrioxamine-treated carcinoma of nasopharyngeal epithelial cells [25] and binding of miR-16 to AREs of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-9 and COX-2 mRNA transcripts could promote their degradation [20], [26]. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and colorectal carcinoma.
