The dramatic increase in CRNDE (44- to 55-fold) in both CD4(+) and CD8(+) cells of AML patients (Le Dieu et al., 2009) suggests that loss of CRNDE expression may correlate with the transition to a single-positive stage rather than with selection of CD4(+) over CD8(+). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
