In the clinical trials, both types of incretin-based therapies are effective in improving hyperglycemia; however, as suggested by the proof of concept study, the magnitude of glycemic improvement was significantly higher with GLP-1R agonists and was consistent in the order of estimated mean treatment difference in HbA1c of 0.34% to 0.63% over and above that obtained with DPP-4 inhibitors. This evidence concerns the gene DPP4 and Hyperglycemia.
