In esophageal squamous cells from EoE and GERD patients, the expression of eotaxin-3 is stimulated by T helper (Th)2 cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-13, whose effects are mediated by the signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)6 signaling pathway [11]–[14]. This evidence concerns the gene CCL26 and eosinophilic esophagitis.
