Indeed, knocking down CREB with an adenovirus-mediated shRNA abolished the up-regulation of the protein level of CREB and the enhancement of colony growth of T98G and U251 cells caused by knocking down miR-9 (Fig. 3D), suggesting that miR-9 inhibits the colony formation ability of glioma cells at least partly through suppressing CREB.
