Because miR-9-1, miR-9-2 and miR-9-3 have all been predicted to be potential targets of the CREB transcription factor [26] and miR-9-2 was shown to be regulated by CREB during neuronal differentiation [25], we hypothesized that CREB could contribute to the up-regulation of miR-9 in glioma cells.
