Loss of Atg5 and Atg7 in mouse livers results in accumulation of abnormal mitochondria, formation of inclusion bodies, liver injury, and development of benign hepatocellular adenomas ( Komatsu et al., 2007;  Inami et al., 2011;  Takamura et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene ATG5 and hepatocellular adenoma.
