These adipocytokines, particularly adiponectin, leptin, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and some proinflammatory interleukins like interleukin 1α (IL-1α)[14] may indicate an association between obesity and colorectal cancer by influencing the obesity associated low grade inflammation and the growth and proliferation of tumor stroma and malignant cells within[15-17]. Here, LEP is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
