The adipose tissue expresses a number of pro-inflammatory molecules, such as leptin, tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), transforming growth factor β1 (TGF- β1), adiponectin and C-reactive protein, which have been shown to modulate the airway inflammatory response thus promoting asthma[1-3].
