Finer analysis of these deletion mutants in normal and PCOS theca cells, demonstrated that a region of the CYP11A1 promoter between −1676 to −660 bp of the start site of transcription conferred a 2–3 fold increase in cAMP-responsiveness (p<0.01) in both normal and PCOS theca cells (Fig. 2). The gene discussed is CYP11A1; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
