Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is the key synthetase of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) [11], [15], a kind of ubiquitous central proinflammatory mediator, which acts in the brain and activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis [16] to facilitate sympathetic drive [17] and may contribute to the pathogenesis of HF.
