Although our previous results suggest that Ca2+ influx through NMDAR is not required for inducing CN-depression, an intracellular Ca2+ increase mediated by voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) -which are putative targets of CaMKII modulation [32], [33]- or Ca2+ release from intracellular stores, could participate in CN-depression.
