Bertholet et al [41] characterized the immunogenicity of ID93, a fusion protein containing Rv3619, Rv1813, Rv3620, and Rv2608, with the adjuvant GLA-SE in mice and demonstrated that the combined induction of polyfunctional CD4 Th1 cells producing specific IFN-γ, TNF-α and IL-2 was able to reduce the number of bacteria in the lungs of animals infected with Mtb and MDR-TB. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
