Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the United States.1 Stroke outcomes can be improved significantly with the use of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) for acute ischemic stroke.2–4 Because the benefits of tPA correlate inversely with the time to therapy administration,2–5 the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) have set guidelines for rapid tPA use.
