VEGFA and lymphedema: Recent reports showed that some angiogenic cytokines would augment lymphangiogenesis in animal models of lymphedema.2–11 These cytokines include vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) C, VEGF‐A, fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 2, angiopoietin‐1, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), and adorenomedullin.5–10 However, the cytokines’ relatively short‐lasting efficacies might hamper the ability of injection of a single cytokine to augment lymphangiogenesis and reduce lymphedema.
