In spite of the strong experimental evidence supporting a role for T cells in murine atherosclerosis, their clinical significance in humans remains limited.28 Therefore, the characterization of circulating CD3+CD4+T-cell subsets in patients with different stages of atherosclerosis and with various manifestations of coronary artery disease (CAD) could contribute to clarify the role of these cells on atherosclerotic plaque formation and progression. Here, CD4 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
