Ifitm1 was originally identified as an interferon (IFN) induced protein in neuroblastoma cells [6] and the promoters of Ifitm1, Ifitm3 and Ifitm6 contain interferon stimulated response elements (ISREs), suggesting that they might be regulated during an antitumoral, antiviral or antibacterial immune response [2], [7]. The gene discussed is IFITM1; the disease is neuroblastoma.
