IFNAR1 and infection: Francisella tularensis and Listeria monocytogenes induce type I IFN during infection and it was demonstrated that the signaling mediated by IFNAR is harmful to host since knockout mice for this receptor are more resistant to those infections (Fehr et al., 1997; Auerbuch et al., 2004; Carrero et al., 2004; Stockinger and Decker, 2008; O'Connor et al., 2009; Henry et al., 2010).
