CD4 and HIV-1 infection: Unlike reports from macrophages, HIV-1 infection in MOLT-4 T lymphoblast cell line and CD4+ T cells has been suggested by one research group to inhibit autophagy as measured by reduced LC3-II or Beclin-1 levels [127,129] (Figure 3B); this indicates that in T-cells the process of autophagy may be a net negative for HIV-1 replication [130].
