The inverse correlation between IL-6 and miR-370 in human CCA specimens and matched normal livers, as well as the fact that IL-6 induces miR-370 suppression in vitro while demethylation induces miR-370 overexpression suggests a potential pathway where overexpression of IL-6 in human CCA induces higher levels of DNA methylation which, in turn, induces lower levels of miR-370. Here, IL6 is linked to cholangiocarcinoma.
