Serum-based molecular markers such as cancer antigen 125 (CA125), antigen SC6 (SC6-Ag), pyruvate kinase isoenzyme type 2 (M2-PK), macrophage inhibitory cytokine 1 (MIC-1) [4] and the most commonly used PC marker CA19-9 lack sensitivity, specificity or reproducibility and hence cannot be used routinely for diagnosing PC. Here, MUC16 is linked to pachyonychia congenita.
