The activation of caspase-3 and enhanced production of cleaved PARP, subsequently leading to DNA fragmentation and apoptosis, in MCME-treated cancer cells coincided with that treated by Kuguacin J, a triterpenoid, and Rutin, a flavonoid, from leaf of M. charantia, in leukemia, prostate, and ovarian cancer cells [36, 54, 55]. The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is ovarian cancer.
