Disruption of lipid rafts and interference with actin cytoskeleton prevented Fas/CD95 clustering and apoptosis, suggesting a major role of actin cytoskeleton in the formation of Fas/CD95 clusters and in the aggregation of proteins in lipid raft clusters in human cancer cells, thus regulating raft-associated signaling events (Gajate and Mollinedo, 2005). The gene discussed is FAS; the disease is cancer.
