One of the Nups, Nup358 (also known as RanBP2 or RAN binding protein 2), is a cellular co-factor for the HIV-1 infection at the PIC nuclear import step (Hutten et al., 2009; Zhang et al., 2010; Ocwieja et al., 2011; Schaller et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene RANBP2 and HIV-1 infection.
