Three patients had two consecutive alanine aminotransferase (ALT) values >10 times ULN during deferasirox treatment: one (1.4 %) in the <7 mg Fe/g dw cohort (thalassemia and hepatitis B/C-positive) and two (0.7 %) in the ≥7 mg Fe/g dw cohort (thalassemia and hepatitis B/C-positive, n = 1; thalassemia and hepatitis B/C-negative, n = 1). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and hepatitis B virus infection.
