Recent data proposed that cytokeratin staining profiles may be useful for discriminating oncocytoma from its renal mimics: oncocytomas are typically CK7–, CK14+ and CK20+, while most chromophobe RCCs are positive for CK7; the various eosinophilic RCC are typically negative for CK14, and only 0–8% of RCCs are positive for CK20 [28, 29]. The gene discussed is KRT14; the disease is oncocytic adenoma.
