In 1993, Zheng et al. identified a colorectal cancer-related gene that was downregulated in colorectal cancer, named suppression of tumorigenicity 13 (ST13) (GenBank accession No. HSU17714), which was cloned by subtractive hybridization screening between the cDNA of normal mucosal tissues and the mRNA of colorectal carcinoma tissues [12], [13], [14], [15]. The gene discussed is ST13; the disease is colorectal cancer.
