Since that TWEAK/Fn14 system was previously reported to promote prostate cancer cell proliferation in the presence of serum, this information may have therapeutic consequences for treatment of androgen-independent prostate cancer by designing maneuvers that sensitize tumor cells to TWEAK-induced apoptosis or by the use of agonistic anti-Fn14 antibodies [26]. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF12 and prostate cancer.
