FGF1 and neoplasm: Many of the factors produced by M2 macrophages act in favour of tumor progression, stimulating tumor growth, (e.g. epidermal growth factor (EGF), fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1) and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1), angiogenesis (e.g. vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA)) and matrix remodelling (e.g. FGF1, fibrin and matrix metallopeptidases (MMPs)).
