SPP1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma: A recent study [19] reported that patients with a G/G genotype at nt -156 in the OPN promoter were more frequently diagnosed with advanced stage (IIIB-IV) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) than those with other genotypes, while another report suggested that the OPN polymorphism might be the genetic factor for hepatitis B viral clearance and hepatocellular carcinoma occurrence [20].
