The third kinesin identified in our screen, KIF20A (also called Rabkinesin-6, RAB6KIFL or MKlp2) has been reported to be essential for cytokinesis in HeLa cells in which its inhibition results in the formation of multinucleated cells [19], [37], and for the survival of pancreatic cancer cells by a mechanism not involving blockage of cytokinesis [30]. Here, KIF20A is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
